Squadron Commander - Capt Jessica Dixon, CAP

Being relatively new to Civil Air Patrol (CAP), I am honored to have taken command of the Madison Cadet Squadron. My CAP journey started in early 2021 when my son asked to join a fun organization that would increase his confidence and improve his chances of being accepted to a military academy. Our research ended quickly when my son learned that CAP would help him develop his leadership skills while pursuing becoming a pilot. Initially, I thought he would join independently. However, I became inspired to use my military and aviation background to support the cadets. My military experience comes from years of hard work and perseverance that earned me an Ocean Engineering degree from the US Naval Academy and the opportunity to serve as a Surface Warfare Officer. While growing up as a military and commercial airline pilot's daughter I completed 20+ hours towards a private pilot license while in high school. Along with becoming the Squadron Commander, CAP has given me an opportunity to become a certified sUAS (Drone) Mission Pilot, Mississippi Wing Ground School instructor, and a senior leader of the Mississippi Wing Summer Encampment. Outside of CAP, I homeschool my two children, own and operate a kids' hair salon in North Carolina, and am an Entergy spouse.
