Cadet Command Staff

Cadet Commander • Cadet officer-in-charge of the unit's cadet corps

Responsibilities

  • Executive oversight of all cadet activities within the squadron
  • Mentoring for other cadet officers
  • Supervision, guidance, and direction over all subordinate cadet commanders and the Cadet First Sergeant during squadron activities
  • Assignment of tasks for cadet staff members
  • Establishment of vision and goals to point the squadron in a meaningful direction
  • Recommendations to the Cadre regarding cadet staff assignments
  • Feedback to the Cadre for cadet promotions and disciplinary actions 

Cadet Deputy Commander • Second-in-command over the unit's cadet corps

Responsibilities

  • Command of cadet activities in the absence of the Cadet Commander
  • Assists the Cadet Commander
  • Second-in-command of cadet activities and assistance in the oversight of event coordination and management
  • "Chief of Staff" for the Mission Support Staff in ensuring that staff members are on-task and focused on their assignments
  • Linkage between subordinate staff members and the Cadet Commander
  • Communication of the Cadet Commander's vision during coordinating efforts

Cadet First Sergeant • Senior cadet non-commissioned officer within the cadet corps

Responsibilities

  • Advising the Cadet Commander on the state of morale, discipline, and readiness of the squadron's cadet corps
  • Principal cadet mentor for the cadet NCO corps
  • Accountability for personnel during squadron activities and training events
  • Oversight of the cadet corps' fitness training and physical readiness 
  • Oversight of drill and ceremonies training programming
  • Administration of counseling and disciplinary action, in coordination with the Cadet Commander and Cadre
  • Command of the unit's Color Guard team, when activated 
  • Maintenance of unit Colors, flags, guidons, and drill equipment
